I have long been a fan of the Birchbox Beauty boxes as it gives me the opportunity to try out new and undiscovered brands every month and as a Beauty Blogger that’s super important. I wanted to show you guys some of the gems I have discovered from my beauty box deliveries over the last few months!
Boy was I excited to see this bad boy in this months “Cosy at Home” themed box. And a full size sample as well! My first experience with Dr Jart+ was when I bought my first BB Cream on a shopping spree in Boots circa 2 years ago. The product was beautiful and moisturising, you could tell it was good quality and I was really impressed. I hadn’t experienced anymore from this Korean brand until now. Dr Jart+ specialises in skincare that have long term benefits for the skin. I was considering trialling a primer that had sebum controlling benefits (witchhazel) as sometimes on busy days I get a bit of a shine midday if I am super run off my feet. This primer goes one step further and helps soothe redness and irritation (rosemary extract known for soothing), both of which I am prone to.
You can guarantee no matter how well the Smashbox primers performs this one will be better for your skin. Recover Primer contains high quality ingredients. This primer isn’t as slippery as others meaning it most likely has less silicone than others. It creates a matte makeup base and performs really well. And can I just add, the fresh scent of this product is gorgeous.
Boots reviewers rate Recover Primer 4.5 stars out of 5. I rate it 4.5 as well.
WOW another full size product in November’s box was OPI’s recent collab with Coco-Cola. I received the red polish in my box. As a (sorta) nail polish formula expert I have to indulge OPI – their lacquer quality is great and this red is super fun, the formula is 3-free and the brushes are wide for ease of application. Some people have been having trouble getting their hands on this products but Birchbox is stocking 3 colours from the range. What I like most about this colour is the novelty factor otherwise it’s just another nice, bright red to me. But if you can’t have fun with beauty then what are we all doing??
Weleda Nourishing Body Oil Lavender – Sample size, November box (this month)
I received a sample size of Weleda’s Lavender Relaxing Body oil and boy this could not have come at a better time for me! I had literally been hankering for a long soak in the bathtub all week when I found myself with a free evening, a good book and this little treat.
I poured half into my bath water for an aromatherapy infused soak and the other half on my limbs after drying off. I went to bed pretty relaxed and unwound. I find that the only essential oil that helps me do this is lavender. This is a delicious product and would make a nice addition to anyone’s Christmas list who would benefit from a little relaxation and me time.
Balance Me Cleanse & Smooth Cleanser – Sample size, Octobers Box
A generous sample size, this Balance Me Cleanser was an exciting find! To me cleansing ones face shouldn’t be a hassle, it should feel like one of life’s little luxuries, which is exactly what I thought when I used this divine face balm.
Although typically not a fan of mechanical cleansers the oatmeal infused formula is more gentle than the sandy kind. This balm is perfect when you are suffering from dehydrated winter skin which tends to get a bit flakey. For normal, dry and sensitive skin the balm is full of hydrating natural ingredients like shea and cocoa butter, rosehip, camellia, kuku’i nut and virgin coconut oils which provide a barrier to nasty winter weather and pollutants. There is also a skin brightening properties from the red mandarin< love this. One niggling point with this brand in general would be that all Balance Me products I use tend to smell the same…I’d like to try a new scent, maybe something pepperminty or rose. Food for thought!
