Ohhhh Ahhhhhighlighters! Admittedly, I was not a fan until I bought this little Topshop Highlighter pot last year (full review here) and now I’m a little bit obsessed with the glowy suckers. Indeed I am taking the time out of my day to write about the ones I think YOU need to know about.
Pure Skin Indulgence – Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal
A sheer, crème-liquid formula and ultra-fine, light-reflecting mica, this stuff is like molten gold for the face. Available in 5 different hues, it has a delicious creamy formula that is very pigmented. Weirdly for a makeup product it contains antioxidant vitamins A, B, D and E aid skin cell repair and increase collagen renewal, whilst simultaneously protecting against free radical damage with SPF 20+.
I would recommend this product for glamorous for nighttime look in need of a hollywood glow. Use underneath a light foundation for lit from within skin or dot along cheekbones, brow arches, down the nose and in the Cupid bow for a lit up, makeup artist-pro complexion.
The J Lo Glow – Vita Liberata Capture the Light in Latte Light
I stumbled across this whilst testing out Vita Liberata Phenomenal Tan (which is awesome and everyone should try – click here for full review) but only recently got around to tying it as I wasn’t too sure what the product did.
The Jo-lowdown is that Vita Liberata Capture the Light is a tanner and glow product, perfect for face and limbs this has a bronzer in it to not only mimic a sun kissed skin but skin that has that covetable, latino J-lo Glow. Like a BB for the body, the formula is medium consistency with semi-sparkle that appears more subdued when applied to skin.
Still a fav and in a handy little travel pot this is a constant in my everyday on to the go makeup bag! If you haven’t already ready my blog on the Topshop Glow Pot then please do click (here) to read the write up.
I would venture to say that usually liquid or gel highlighters are better all round highlighters; a liquid usually means a thinner, less glittery glow that looks more natural and is easy to manage the amount you use. However, there is one product that has blown my hypothesis out the water.
Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palette in Golden Sugar is the new highlighter(s) in my life and such a pretty product too! This highlighting palette, marketed as blush for some reason, may look a tad excessive.
This product is not glittery but casts a subtle sheen, so miniscule. I like that I can interchange the colours depending on the colour of my skin or base and can go heavier or use a light dusting. I only use half of the shades but at £6 for the whole thing who cares.
You may have noticed but it’s pretty much an Hourglass Ambient Lighting dupe, but its my winner!
My favourite all over glow powder, the HD Brows highlighter compact is perfect for those that want to add a little shimmer to your complexion after makeup. I recently discovered HD Brows makeup line and thier products are really beautiful, the foundation is definitely worth trying out.
The Illuminator comes in a colour called champagne which has a bronzy undertone. This can be the last step in your regime and as it comes in a power compact and is a bronzed hue there is no need to change equipment; lightly swirl a big fluffy bronzer brush over the product once and then adopt the double 3 movement for a glamorous glow.
