FACT: Your skin needs different skincare products in different seasons if you live in a country where winter is cold and harsh and summer in warmer.
As a dry sensitive skinned gal I spend most of the colder months trying to find the perfect balance of moisture to keep my skin looking soft and hydrated throughout the cold and indoor heating it get subjected to. Oils are a must!
In the summer I start again by stripping everything back because I don’t need a facial oil and a rich day cream anymore, my skin needs to breathe in the heat so my pores aren’t clogged. At the same time I need hydration, not the heavy sort, but the lightweight, fast absorbing smart sort.
Pestle and Mortar is a beautiful little skincare brand I discovered last year. I was sent the Pure Hyaluronic Serum and the Lightweight Hydrate cream last October and quickly discovered they weren’t going to be heavy duty enough for the coming months. I saved them and now I absolutely love what this hyaluronic acid based duo is doing for my summer skin.
I want to first talk about the Pure Hyaluronic Serum. Pure is the right word for this as it is a clean formula, 100% vegan, organic, paraben free, propylene glycol free, fragrance free and not tested on animals.
Every summer I tend to break out, not sure why but it happens but around april my skin starts getting under the skin acne as the weather gets warmer. Pure Hyaluronic Serum is super lightweight and literally sinks into the skin in seconds for an instant plumping and counteracts dullness and dehydration. It’s packed with vitamin E too. It’s good clean hydration and the perfect serum for all skin types in the summer months. I also want to not here that it’s important when shopping for a hyaluronic acid product that you purchase something with a high quality hyaluronic acid molecule so your skin is absorbing and benefitting from it.
Moving onto its matching moisturiser Hydrate is a lightweight face cream with a little more complexity. What I love about this cream is how it softens the face, repairs and firms skin but is completely weightless and non-greasy. It’s a summer skincare dream.
The cream also has tri- and tetrapeptide technology that helps to stimulate collagen production and help to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Its ingredients include jojoba and squalane; natural active ingredients renowned for deeply moisturising skin and preventing UV damage and the formation of age spots. It also has free radical fighting ingredients like pomegranate, green tea and vitamin E.
The airless pump container prevents contamination and keeps the formula active and fresh as it’s free of preservatives that aren’t good for sensitive skin.
Again, Hydrate is free of parabens, mineral oil, silicones, sulphates, propylene glycol, synthetic fragrances and is vegan and cruelty free.
I’m a big believer in seasonal skincare and this is hands down my favourite combo I have tried to date for the high summer months. It’s exactly what my skin has been calling out for and my blemishes have started to calm down a bit now I’m using something more lightweight yet still hydrating, high quality and natural.
