Highlights done, base tan sorted, lashes permed, hair removal; check. The last thing to do before you board your flight is nails. Whether you’re a gel nails, acrylic fan or like to do a weekly lick of nail paint these are my picks for summer 2017 nailspo.
Nails Inc in Chelsea Lane
I’m never going to opt for a peach nail unless it’s high summer, which is why Nails Inc’s Chelsea Lane is the perfectly appropriate peach hue for holiday. Although it’s technically a pastel I found this colour packs more of a punch that most other pastel shades. I would recommend this colour for medium to dark skin tones in particular but if you’re planning on tanning then this will look great on you.
It comes in their High Shine formula for a high-gloss, lacquered finish, which I don’t find altogether different from the original Nails Inc lacquer formula.
Nailberry in Minty Fresh
For the natural nail connoisseur Nailberry have launched their Summer Candy Collection featuring 4 very pretty pastel hues. My pick of the bunch is this mint-white colour called Minty Fresh. A stark white mani looks great in the summer but an off white, pastel or in this case, hint of mint is less harsh but still feels fresh, clean and perfect for holiday hands.
Nailberry’s L’Oxygene formula is designed to let moisture and air through to the nail so nails can breathe. The formula is also 5-free too!
Rimmel Super Gel in Dive Right In
Rimmel have added some new summer shades to their Super gel collection, aptly named Beach Ready. These are summer brights for sure and my fav of the bunch is this pure turquoise blue called Dive Right In. Perfect for someone looking for a bright, tropical jolt of colour. Bonus points that this type of blue offsets a tan amazingly also!
The formula is incredibly long lasting for a self- drying polish and longer lasting that most of the temporary colours that claims “gel life” effects. Invest in the topcoat too because it will definitely prolong wear by a few days.
Sally Hansen Color Therapy in Sheer Nirvana
For the neutral nail lover I put forward Sally Hansen’s Sheer Nirvana; a sheer white but buildable lacquer with a hint of pink. The formula has a jelly-like appearance and maintains some of it’s sheerness when applied.
Sally Hansen has recently launched a new collection of polishes that is said to care for nails whilst you wear it. The formula is infused with Argan oil for nourishment
OPI in Living on the Bula-vard
Opi has launched their Fiji collection for summer 2017 and as you would expect it is very very bright. I found many of these colours totally inappropriate (sludgy grey anyone?) but the one that took my fancy the most was Living on the Bula-vard, a shockingly bright orange-red hue. Perfectly tropical and fun on hands and feet.
I personally love OPI formulations and think they are some of the best salon quality polishes out there.
