You may have started noticing that more and more people around you are looking tanned, glowing, healthy. I, in comparison, still look ghost like, like I walked out of February yesterday. The more layers I shed and the more limbs I expose, the more I yearn to be tanned. Until my holiday in August (which actually feels like a lifetime away right now) I am having to up my self-tan game to, quite literally, literally blend in. Below are my FAVOURITE tanning products, with one particular product that has been positively game changing.
If I am doing a developing tan prep is not necessary but will help your tan stay longer, promise. I especially like to exfoliate the leg area as this gets quite dry I find and is the place where tan starts to get patchy on me first. By removing the dead skin on the legs tan will take to newer skin so the colour will stay longer. I am loving Xen-Tan Fresh Prep Face and Body Scrub. I like that this product is dual purpose for both face and body and is PH balance friendly so won’t disrupt the acidity levels on the skin. Also good for removing old tan and can be used in place of your shower gel.
The Developing Long-Life Tanner
I have a check list when choosing a developing tanning product 1. blends easily 2. lasts ages 3. has a deep colour 4. doesn’t smell (too bad) 5. Doesn’t transfer onto clothes and sheets.
That is quite a long list of demands but I have actually found this gospel product. The Xen-Tan Fresh Tanning Mousse is the most amazing tanning product EVER. FULL STOP. This has actually made me fake tan 3 weeks in a row, usually I manage one application a month because I CBA. But the reason I love this product is because the full body tan lasts 6 whole days. 6 DAYS! There is no smell, no transfer on my white sheets and the colour is on point! It has a time-release formula is every skin tone gets a natural, olive toned, deep tan. I’ve yet to find a fault with this product. This is THE lazy pale girl tan formula.
The On Holiday Tanner
Luxury tanning brand, Vita Liberata have launched a Marula Dry Oil Self Tan with an SPF 50 in it. This is the last word in luxury tanning for sure. The formula has a distinctly olive base to it and its 3 in 1 formula means that you get instant colour with a developing tan as well, the marula oil moisturises limbs and the SPF protects with exposed to UV rays. It’s the perfect going away essential for when you are making the transition from fake tan to real deal glow. Make sure you gives this a good shake and I would recommend using this with latex gloves so the finish is more even.
The Instant Tan Fix
Cocoa Brown is a pretty insta-famous tanning brand right now. I remember when I first received a sample of this and not giving it much thought. Instant tans seemed so 2010… However 1 night this came to the rescue and I fell in love. The Cocoa Brown Instant Tan Bronzing Gel Matte formula is so easy to work with and gives an instant glow to the skin. It is buildable but I find that one layer is enough to give me the last min glow I’m looking for. It doesn’t smell and is dry in minutes. Also, it’s a bargain at £6.99 a bottle! If I’m heading out and I’m wearing a dress I give my pins a good seeing to with the instant stuff. Also they do their plush bright pink velour tanning mitts are the best I’ve tried!
The Xtra Factor
The Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess Oil Shimmering Dry Body Oil is for all the girls out there wanted to add a little extra sex appeal to their tan. This product is pretty extra ordinary which is probably why it has sold out in a lot of places already. It’s like a golden shimmering filter for your body. The Kardashians swear by it! Shake vigorously to mix the golden shimmer with the Argan oil and pump a few times into the hand for each limb. Buff onto skin for a glowing, red carpet effect. I wouldn’t use this unless I was already quite tanned though as the golden hue only really compliments tanned skin already.
