OILS: the beauty elixir that should not be feared but stocked high and slathered on with abandon because they are nectar for your dry and irritated winter skin. I’ve always got an oil on the go (year round I might add). I use them for my hair, face, body, hands and nails and I have rounded up a slick line up of my ultimate favs for you guys.
The Best Allrounder – Lloyds Pharmacy Body Care Oil
Lloyds Pharmacy have released a new oil into the market this year and it takes the best all rounder spot with ease because this truly is one stop shop all for preventing the appearance of stretch marks, uneven skin texture and tone as well as dryness. Its ingredients are a medley of all the richest, most nourishing natural oils including sweet Almond oil and Argan oil. The texture is feather light and absorbs within seconds but skin feels moisturised for 12 hours. When I take my clothes of at the end of the day my limbs are still silky smooth. It also helped combat my eternally dry shins and uneven texture on the back of my arms I started getting after my sun holiday. Bonus points that it’s purse friendly too. Winner.
The Luxe One – Jo Malone Dry Body Oil
This oil selection is made for the fragrance devotee with a penchant for luxury. Jo Malone perfume house is forever dreaming up beautiful scent combinations and they now do a few of their best sellers in a dry oil, beautifully presented in these heavyweight black bottles and silver lids. I went into store for a fragrance layering appointment and came out with this Oud & Bergamot dry body oil. It’s so precious that I reserve it for evenings when I want to smell divine all night long. The oil is clear and rapidly absorbs into the skin and leaves a beautiful aroma on the limbs for all night long hydration and scent. I would only use this on the body (arms, chest, legs) because it is heavily perfumed. You can read more on my Jo Malone fragrance combining appointment here.
The Winter Facial Oil – Trilogy Rosehip Oil + Antioxidant
Nourishes, protects and rejuvenates – Trilogy’s Rosehip Facial oil + Antioxidant has been a favourite of mine since before I started blogging. The Trilogy brand warms my heart for many reasons; it’s charitable and ethical and makes very potent yet natural skincare. It’s a perfect beauty oil for winter because it’s proven through testing that your skins appearance will improve over 2 weeks of daily use (reduction of fine lines, better elasticity and skin tone) . Use under a moisturiser and massage into to skin for best results. It’s also really purse friendly. If you want a more in depth review click here.
The One for Good Foot Health – Margaret Dabbs Fabulous Feet Foot Oil
Let’s not neglect the feet! Margaret Dabs, purveyor of all things foot related in beauty, has her own line of skincare for your tootsies and her hero (Fabulous Feet Intensive Treatment Foot Oil) is the only product I used on my feet throughout 2016. I love it because not only does it improve the texture, hydration levels and health of the nails and skin on the feet, but it’s also formulated with oils that are antibacterial and anti-fungal to keep feet smelling great and healthy. It uses the super efficient ingredient Emu Oil, known for its hydrating qualities and has a fresh and zesty lemon myrtle smell, which is a known healer and antiseptic as well. Use as a daily treatment for the first few weeks then once a week for maintenance. It’s a dry oil too so you can spray then pop your socks straight on.
The Cleansing Oil – DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
Cleansing is a key part of my beauty routine and I like to switch things up occasionally and use an oil cleanser when I want a little extra hydration. I’ve tested quite a few and the one I keep coming back to is the amazing DHC Deep Cleansing Oil. This product is incredibly made from olive oil yet I read loads of reviews from people with very dry and sensitive skin right through to acne prone skin raving about this product. It is super simple and gentle and is great for dissolving makeup and grime and leaves skin clean, nourished and super soft. It’s a beauty hero for sure.
