OH to be ruddy cheeked and carefree when it comes to skincare, opting for just a swipe of vaseline and a lungful of O2. A country gal I am not! I will forever be the metropolitan dweller, pounding pavements, downing pisco sours, itching to get onto the next event whilst mumbling under my breath “where the fuck is my uber driver!?”. And so with my uninhibited and semi-toxic lifestyle comes the need for protection from the elements. I’m not talking about the god-given/big-banged-out elements, but the nasty manmade ones that pollute and besmirch my skin every time I set foot outside and inhale the city’s fug.If you are considering the implications of pollutants and the city’s toxic, ageing and carcinogenic effects that living in the city has on the skin you may want to have a little peak as some stella new skincare launches that tackle just that.
I was really exited to get my hands on this power house product from Elizabeth Arden. Prevage City Smart launched a few months back offering users a product that would not only anti-age but protect the skin whilst offering a light coverage for a more flawless complexion. Sounds pretty damn good. After trying it out for a few weeks I’m really enjoying using this multi-purpose skin solution. It’s both my SPF (Factor 50 but no white residue), tinted moisturiser (and primer when I wear foundation), blocks anti-oxidants and pollution when I’m out in the city and adds anti ageing when I’m not getting it from my skincare. Use it after your serum and moisturiser and before you start your makeup.
So far the reviews I’ve read on this are pretty phenomenal and the EA Prevage line seems like a solid choice for a luxury anti-ageing range.
Oh yeah, I bloody love this Take a Deep Breath Eye and Face creams from Philosophy. This is new new new absolutely stellar little skincare duo packed full of free radical fighters and the latest science to protect the skin for the sins of city life. The Oxygenating gel formula moisturizer restores and refreshes a dull and dry complexion suffering from effects of a busy lifestyle that we know can be SO ageing. It has this fancy “clean-air technologyTM” in it which means oxygen can be delivered right through the skin so it can breathe more easily whilst blocking pollution and toxin absorption.
I have been using this daily for about 4 weeks now and my skin is very happy about it. I never thought my skin would like an oil free product so much but it is still really hydrating whilst balancing. Usually when I review a skincare product I feel the need to assign it to a skin type but I think that the Take a Deep Breath range genuinely transcends this and works on most skin types.
I have written about the REN Flash Defence Pollution Mist in the past and I really LOVE the concept of this product but I successfully forget to apply this every time I go outside because the full size version is not handbag friendly.
Since I got my hands on the mini (above) I carry it around in my bag. It’s surprising how often I started to gag on fumes and it’s an instant reminder to give my face a little spritz of this fast-absorbing, lightweight formula that creates a undetectably thin gum shield over the face to protect from pollution and prevent oxidative stress on the skin. Read my more lengthly review here.
