My love for a good concealer knows no bounds. I hold the mighty concealer in higher regard than a foundation even, yes I said it. I believe if you have a good concealer then a base product is not always necessary. There are an abundance of evil, cheap concealers circulating on the market and I’ve used my fair share. When it comes to searching for the most perfect, creamy formula with high coverage, long wear and a flawless and glowing finish I’ve rounded up my ultimate 6.
Get one and it’ll be bye bye base.
Kat Von D Lock It Concealer 7ml
ALLLLLLLLRIAAAAGHT. I’ve probably bored you all to death talking and posting about this but it was one of the best discoveries I made this year and a surprising fav. I was so ready to NOT get along with Kat Von D makeup. Lock It Concealer, which is exclusive to Debenhams in the UK, is the highest coverage concealer I’ve ever used and as the name suggests it locks to the face. Budge proof, sweat/dance/tears/shower/life PROOF! With such a binding formula you’d expect it to be drying on the skin but it ain’t. It’s magic and it’s my best friend.
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer 7ml
This is a long standing favourite for many. People are divided between Nars Radiant Creamy and Urban Decay Naked. I personally prefer Nars Creamy because, as the name suggests, the formula is super creamy and radiant but NOT luminous or highlight-y. No glitter here! It has good coverage, not as much as KVD though. It creates a flawless canvas for makeup hiding all imperfections and should be used with a blending sponge for the best finish. The only let down for me was it didn’t last as long as I’d hoped and looked a little dry after the day on my under eyes.
By Terry Densiliss Concealer 7ml
This is a newbie to the concealer market by one of my fav makeup brands By Terry. Terry Densiliss under-eye concealer contains a lot of age correcting and firming benefits, to no doubt back up the price tag of £44 (yikes). It has a smooth fluid texture and is super creamy on the under eyes, not drying either, but then not as long wearing and KVD. I prefer this product to the Nars Creamy as I felt it was less drying yet had more coverage. Those that prefer Nars say sometimes this can be too high coverage/cakey but this was not my experience. Definitely give it a go when you next see it because of the price. It has a matte radiant finish.
Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer Luminate 7ml
Following on from one radiant concealer to another, the Amazing Cosmetics beauty company launched their second ever concealer in 2016. I am a huge fan of the Amazing Concealer original, which is a camo paste basically, so had high expectations for this luminate version. This product probably has the least coverage in this round up. It did little to cover under eye darkness and redness. It sure is glow-y though, on top of the cheekbones and down the nose it looks lovely. I don’t want to say that it’s sparkly, but when warmed on the skin it’s quite dazzling. If you want medium coverage and a glowing highlight effect in a thick and creamy formula this could be for you. Not for blemishes.
Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer 7ml
Too Faced are smashing the makeup game right now. They don’t overdo the new launches and each new addition to the brand is always a hit. The Born This Way Naturally Radiant (could have worked on the name) concealer is a creamy, medium to full coverage concealer recommended for under the eyes and coverage everywhere else too. It is super creamy, is more medium coverage and works best with a blending sponge if you want to build up to a fuller coverage. Although it says it’s creaseless, virtually no concealer I’ve used is, (KVD Lock It comes closest) it works fairly well when set. Great if you like a light formulation that blends easily. I’d compare it to the By Terry one above without all the anti ageing/skincare benefits.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer 10ml
This is my drugstore pick for creamy, high coverage concealers. I’ve always said that Bourjois is like high-end makeup hiding in a drugstore dress. The Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer has Apricot for radiance, Melon for moisture and Raspberry for encouraging microcirculation. It only comes in three shades and most have yellow undertones, but this is good for counteracting redness on the face. I was impressed by how well this product covered blemishes and redness as well as sitting pretty on the under eye area. It dries to a satin/matte finish but doesn’t go cakey. The finish is pretty flawless and I would recommend for those who like Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer but want something a 3rd of the price.
