Style Notes: Shoes by Tibi, Sunglasses by Rayban, Grey Body by Missguided
It’s mid may and we’ve had 2.2 seconds of summer but that doesn’t mean that on the Saturday just passed all of London wasn’t outside soaking up some of that well-missed Vitamin D.
When the weather app hits the 20’s I’m all about dressing in light and airy clothing that still modestly covers my pale limbs, can’t expose a girl too soon after a winter of hibernation.In-line with the new season I have recently gone on a mad clear out where I am streamlining not only my life but my closet as well. I am focusing on quality and multi-functional staples to create the perfect capsule wardrobe that will last me a few seasons.
It’s so easy to get sucked into fast-fashion with it’s low price tag and sexy marketing, but as I get older and earn more money I am more interested in investing in pieces that are more stylish, rather than fashionable and fit with my signature look rather than building a wardrobe based on trend-led fashion.
Something that is good quality, cut in a style that suits your shape and like jeans or a jacket, forms the base of a good outfit will last you years. Meaning you can dabble in your choker bodysuits, sports caps and 1 wash pieces and not feel like, 3 months down the line, your whole wardrobe is dated and falling apart.
Two of my good friends, they are a couple actually, have launched a new thoughtfully and culturally curated, shopping platform aptly named Kept Edition, which is a careful selection of well-made, love-forever pieces from designers that fall in line with the whole “buying to keep mentality”.
I’ve already fallen for the Bethnals brand, a small design team from east London that create quality unisex staples. I am obsessed with these Murphy Tapered jeans that have the cutest little detailing on the (optional) turn up. They are also Unisex as well, but my boyfriend better keep his hands to himself because I will be wearing these non stop. Also by Bethnals is this White Western Denim Jacket. I live in denim jackets in the summer and the softness and quality of this is lovely. Again this is unisex!
The Lifestyle Store also dabbles in interiors and beauty and are selling some gorgeous and very instagrammable home-wear pieces by artist Tom Pidgeon and (give your cactus a new home) OK Concrete. #LBloggers dream.
