When it comes to exercise I am a strong believer in you get out what you put in. But then I get distracted and forget to go back and that’s pretty much the story of my life when it comes to exercise. However, I have pledged this year will be different, so I have set about to find my perfect workout as part of my #RebalancingMyself project.
I’ve done several Boot camps in my life, all as disgustingly painful and gruelling as the last. But I’m no pussy. Like a drug addict I go back time and time again, crawling through sweat and tears to reach that exhilarating hit of endorphins at the end and the shadow of a new set of abs.
Skinny Rebel Workout is a newly imagined, personable but gruelling boot camp with an air of exclusivity, if the price tag/venue is anything to go by. The exercises are similar to what you see in many bootcamp sessions only the classes are kept to 4 people or under, so there’s no way you can slack under the watchful eye of the PT.
What makes this workout different is the inclusion of an altitude mask whilst training, The mask itself, although sounds scary in theory, is actually a welcome distraction as you grit your teeth through your 20th jump squat. In fact, I found the exercises easier wearing the altitude mask than without. It changed the way I breathed oxygen, as in it makes you breathe less of it and gives a string of benefits: improved aerobic performance, Enhanced power output and speed, Improved strength and endurance and Reduced recovery time after exertion to name a few.
Honestly how was it…
The the work out was hardcore but enjoyably challenging. The trainer was super friendly and encouraging but didn’t let me off easily, which is important I think. I don’t know why, but however bad I feel I never want to let them down. And I especially didn’t want to let Richard down with his hipster beard and knitted beanie. Richard brings the cool to this otherwise haute workout club, that is Train Dirty London.
10 minutes in my head started feeling a little light and a ball of buzzing energy started to fizz in my core. I blasted through the last exercises like Superwoman.
Although the price tag is a little mind boggling what you get is a designer version of a 40-strong class bootcamp on your local grassy common, in a swanky hotel with 1-on-1 attention. This is an experience with an exhilarating high at the end and is borderline addictive. I didn’t want to take the mask off and found myself wondering if there would be benefits of me doing house work in this thing.

A package is not only the most cost effective way of “training dirty” but you are guaranteed results. So if you feel like treating yourself, working hard and getting great body overhaul results then that £420 may be better spent on 12 sessions of skinny rebel than that designer bag you were thinking about…
