A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS

A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASSI LOVE TO DANCE. It’s one of the things in life that gives me the most joy. I can keep a fairly good rhythm too and having lived in the Caribbean for the majority of my teenage years, I learnt to shake my ass pretty good. However, when it comes to coordinated dance routines similar to the likes of Beyoncé and RiRi that is where my coordination falls flat on its face. A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS

As soon as someone is counting me in to a count of 8 followed by a left turn, booty swing, pelvis thrust, step down, cross back, jump and slide I look like a blind puppy with two left paws. Is it possible to have coordination dyslexia because I got that bad?

A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASSA BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASSNow I am freelance and master of my own time I have made a promise to myself to experience new things in the next 12 months. Perspirex Antiperspirant has got my back on this one and has signed me up to take part in a dance workshop and nail a Diva Dance Routine, in public, in one day. I’m nervous!

Nerves don’t usually get the better of me but my mind is filled with embarrassing scenarios where I look like a total twat in a sea of Pineapple dance studio professionals who regularly pop in for a little shimmy on Thursday eve.

I’m kitted out in my new Sweaty Betty workout gear and of course an anti-perspirant that will not let me down! Perspirex comes in both Original and Comfort and the most impressive thing about this product is that it’s said to work for 3-5 days, even between showers. I know, I couldn’t believe it either which is why I was excited to put it to the test in an environment that involved lots of cardio but also one I was quite nervous about.

I decide to push this product to its limit and apply it after a shower the night before and spend a whole day running around town shooting before the dance class. Sneaking a quick sniff before the class and my armpits are bone dry and odour free. WHAT!? Have they stopped working or something? Usually I’d be in despo need of a shower after shooting back to back for 6 hours…

A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASSA BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS I’m joined (mostly for moral support) by my friend Emily at Seen on Screen at the YMCA for their 6.30pm Diva Dance class. Emily is a Daily Express journo who lives for subjecting herself to awkward and new experiences and doesn’t take herself too seriously. The perfect dancing partner!

The studio is quite small and it quickly fills up with young bubbly girls of all shapes and sizes. This class sells out every week! We will be learning a sexy routine to Rihanna’s Skin track. My hands are already a little moist. I’m definitely going to be standing on toes.

A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASS A BUCKET LIST BLOG: TAKING A DIVA DANCE CLASSWe start with a warm up that is quite ass and abs focused. The blood is pumping. What I love about dancing is that you can basically trick yourself into exercising. The teacher is very chilled and encouraging. Emily and I fucked up loads and end up on the floor in fits of laughter more than once. When we make a mistake we style it out. THIS IS FUN. By the end of the hour-long class I’ve semi achieved 1 minute of coordinated routine but it’s the most fun I have had in ages working up a sweat.

We change into our party gear in the toilets as we are off to a Gin Distillery Hotel and Bar opening in Notting Hill. I don’t even shower but I don’t need to because I still smell fresh. Feeling like I’ve got a bit of a dirty secret we socialise until midnight, drinking and mingling with a very cool crowd. I haven’t showered in over 36 hours and I’ve sweated quite a lot but you wouldn’t know unless I told you! Haha.

How to use Perspirex:

The skin must be completely dry and unbroken before application. Use a hairdryer at cool setting if necessary. Do not use until 48 hours after shaving or waxing. Never apply to damaged/irritated skin.

At night, before going to bed apply a small amount (approx. 2 strokes up and 2 stokes down) as a thin film, evenly distributed only on the armpit area. Allow to fully dry after application.

Wash off in the morning with soap and water. Do not re-apply as the protection will last even after a shower. Should you wish to you can also apply a regular scented deodorant or perfume, this will not affect the efficacy of Perspirex.

Perspirex Comfort – Sensitive formula lasts 3-5 days. Perspirex Original lasts up to 5 days.

This post is in collaboration with Perspirex deodorant, which is, honestly, a miracle product if you sweat a lot or feel like your deodorant just isn’t working hard enough for you. All thoughts are my own.
