UK people how blessed are you feeling right now (Global warming threats aside)? I am 30 years old and I can safely say summer 2018 has been THE BEST summer on record. Sure, sure I’ve spent many weeks actually abroad for work and a few holidays, but seriously, even when I was on the beach I was enviously eyeing up the UK’s 30 degree temperatures on my weather app. Why on earth had I paid to fly to Mykonos for 28 degree heat when my home town was a toasty 32 degree 14 days on the trot.. I HAD TO LOL.
SO as Britain turns into a staycation destination I have been enjoying all the sunny pastimes my very own country has to offer me including; seaside escapes, day trips to country houses to revel in the Great British outdoors and enjoying the delights of my local Lido.
My favourite footwear brand of the 90’s, Faith, have swum into 2018 launching their first swimwear collection, which is a tasty compilation of pastel striped and embellished bikinis and one piece swimsuits. Supplementing the line is a collection of beach and poolside cover-ups also. Debenhams asked me to pick out my fav pieces and take them along on a staycation day out.
For a recent day out at the Brixton Lido I packed some Faith Poolside essentials, snacks, drinks and sun cream of course and took a fresh pedi and a few friends to the pool for the day.
I picked out this Orange & Burgundy contrasting solid striped two-piece, which doubles up as a halter or a bandeau bikini. Note the colour looks a lot darker and deeper than the website product shots!
For my cover up I picked up a floaty Faith, Black sheer lace-up V-neck midi beach dress made from a light sheer fabric with cut-out gold ring sides and a lace-up front with self-tie tassel fastenings. My footwear are these minimal silver sandals by Call it Spring.
What has also been top of my to do list is keeping on top of personal grooming routines now that about 75% more skin is on show and toes are out out on a daily basis. This includes waxing, at home mani’s and pedicures courtesy of Blow LTD mobile beauty services and salon.
I booked in an OPI gel pedi ahead of my Lido visit. A lovely lady came to my house with her full pedi kit and gave me a Full Pedi in 50 mins (£45) whilst I caught up on some work. I was so impressed I was regretting not booking in a mani and a wax as well.
Having somebody come to your home for treatments may sound Kayne West style boujieee but it’s actually not any more expensive than travelling to a salon. It’s also less time consuming and a dream for freelancers like me.
Where do you like to staycation in the UK? Below are few of my top destinations for escaping at home this summer.
