I am a self-confessed over-packer. Every time I check my bag at the airport the ritual of redistributing goods amongst my friends’ suitcases ensues. It’s no laughing matter, I am deadly serious about the 4 pairs of heels and 6 versions of slider / mules I’ve packed. Not to mention the 8 mini dresses I need for the, erm, 4 nights out we have planned.
There is neither rhyme nor reason to the matter only that I love my fashion and I NEED options to feel appropriately dressed should any situ arise.
For my next trip Matalan challenged me to streamline the packing process and pick an item of clothing I could dress for daytime activities then dress up for a night out. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Here’s how it went.
My Daytime Look
Browsing through Matalan’s Holiday Shop I found lots of cute pieces for Holiday and at such low prices too! You can Kaftan your little heart out here, they have so much choice.
The Two Layer Tassel Playsuit caught my eye immediately. As it was black I knew it would translate well to night-time. I also love anything with tassels right now; earrings, clutch bags, jackets, anything. The romper is also super flattering on the body and would suit any shape. Bare legs and arms are perfect for the climate as I was travelling to Las Vegas and LA and temperatures were predicted to be in the 30’s!
A big bag is essential when on holiday. A roomy tote style like this Rope Stripe Beach Bag (similar here) is perfect for carrying everything whether shopping or down at the poolside. I chose it because I wanted to add a little colour to my outfit. A Stripe Floppy hat is a sunny destination essential and I love these Double Platform man-dals (silver version here). The raffia detailing on the sandals is such a cute detail. Finally, a pair of Cateye Sunnies for a little glam and I’m good to go.

Night time look
Turning this look into an evening look wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I tend to favour a monochrome look for night time as well.
Even though it’s warm in the States right now I added this pretty White Applique Lace Jacket over the top of the playsuit for a little light layering.
The flatforms were upgraded to these Ghillie Cork Flatforms in a burnt orange with corset style laces. I’m loving lacing on anything and everything right now!

What do you think of the look? Jumpsuits are probably the most flattering and versatile piece of clothing you can pack for your holidays this year with the ability to dress them up or down but still look put together.
Thanks to Matalan for partnering with me on this project. As always all styling, creative direction and thoughts are my own.
