Who would have thought that the humble hoodie would become the item every cool fashion girl is buying? Once a forgotten piece of cloth I reached for on sick days in my bed when NOBODY would see me, the hoodie is now HAUTE.
There is only 1 rule when shopping for your new hoodie and that is that is has to be the pullover kind, no zippers in sight. I’m particularly drawn to the grey marl ones that look so grunge or basic but have been elevated through embroidery, sequins and slogans.
Cropped hoodies look particularly cool over below the knee floral dresses and skirts. I’m playing with the proportions here to keep it more stylish and less bag lady. A cropped hoodie with a pleated midi skirt just seems so wrong but looks surprisingly chic together.
More cute styles I like
Next has been winning at embroidery details this season. I stumbled upon this Cropped Embroidered Hoodie a few months ago. I love that the embroidery is not just on the body and sleeves but on the big oversized hood too. such a nice touch. I’m a basics girls most days but I love the more is more notion when I start to add some details to a look. Here I’ve doubled up on embroidery with this fabulous oversized denim jacket. The embroidery on here makes me dizzy with delight, also from Next.
This is the ultimate spring fashion look for me. Layers give the look style and substance but also make perfect sense for when you want to cool down or warm up a little. Playing on the more is more IS MORE idea I’ve added these leopard print flats too.
Ray Ban Hexagon frames in Rose gold and a metallic silver camera bag complete the look.
Are you rekindling a love for the classic hoodie? How would you wear yours?
