OTK Boots. Possibly the sexiest shoe out there, besides the classic stiletto heel of course. They ooze confidence and sex appeal. But why are they so hard to style? Every winter I see a new pair I’ve fallen in love with and as soon as I’m home they sit gathering dust until I dust them off for a night out. Its not a cost effective purchase until you are able to wear this boot in the daytime too.
When I think of an outfit style with OTK’s or thigh highs I immediately think of the classic skinny jeans oversized jumper combo. Dont get me wrong, its a classic but I wanted to find a new way to wear my new velvet OTK’s and not just for an evening look.
How to style
When I was shopping the other day I spotted this awesome skirt from Zara, YES, it’s a skirt! At first I thought they were being kooky and had tied up a plaid skirt round the mannequin’s waist but no, its actually designed to be worn as a skirt, although it can double up as a shirt too. This skirt/shirt inspired this layered winter look which is cosy and cool.
I paired the plaid skirt with a funnel neck light grey ASOS jumper that comes down quite long, although I’ve tucked it in here for this look. It’s fleece lined and the shapes pretty on trend. Wear any modern, minimal style jumper with this to counteract the grunge, slightly punk-ette, Westwood style of the skirt.
Next up, the new Whistles leather jacket which I am obsessed with right now. I bought this as a special end of year treat, a “well done for working so hard” gift to myself. No regrets! My old Topshop biker was looking pretty tired and after 6 years I thought I deserved an upgrade! The style is a classic biker with a more structured shape to it. It just feels a little more modern to me?
This bag was a great Zara find. I love the military inspired design and box bags are my fav style of bag at the mo. This one comes in tan, red and black with brass hardware and was pretty cheap too. You can’t store much in it so I save it more for day when I’m not working and don’t need to lug around my blogging kit with me.
Finally the BOOTS! OTK’s tend to break the bank a little unless you find a killer pair like this from Primark! These are pretty much thigh highs tbf. They are made from a velvet material and as they aren’t very tight on the leg I do find myself pulling them up now and again. You can counteract this with double sided tape on the inside of the thigh part. Wear tights though so you aren’t sticking your skin to the boot!
What do you guys think of the look? How do you wear your OTK’s? Leave your ideas below – I’d love some more style inspo.
