I am SO-HO (see what I did there?) excited about this shoot. Not only because I have styled the look head-to-toe from one of my favourite brands but I’m rocking my 80’s chopstick curls look and I got to eat A LOT of salty, vinegar soaked chips during this streetstyle. WINNER!
The sun was out, the builders were out (this always happens to me when we shoot, drones of builders lining the roads, cat calling). I have a tactic now whenever the cocky one of the group crosses the road and asks to be in a photo with me (taken on my camera?! this is the part I don’t understand). I turn to him and I say very sweetly, “Do you know how many
imbeciles men come up and do exactly what you did every time I shoot? A LOT”. They promptly scurry away with their wrench between their legs…
Anyway back to this outfit! I am having so much fun showing you guys how I like to put together looks recently and having watched all the runway shows for AW17, there is still so much 80’s about! We are starting to see it drip drrrrrip slowly into the stores now. A little power shoulder, body-con dress, patterned shirts and batwing jumpers. Little kitten-heeled boots are popping up too and big earrings are everywhere.
This fuzzy pale peach knit is the most 80’s thing on me. I was kinda hoping, as I corkscrew curled my hair, that I had a little peach left in it from the week before so I could be extra peachy and fuzzy, haha. This is a great spring jumper, super light but snuggly.
I paired it with this absolute killer of a leather miniskirt. This was a bit of an indulgent purchase! I’d never usually buy real leather anything, except shoes; because it can be quite costly. The leather of this mini is so buttery soft and I loved the wrap style. I figured it was an investment piece. It’s short but has a cute A-line style to stop it from being full-blown slut-leather.
I’m a chunky heeled boot girl normally but something about these kitten heeled ankle boots with wrap around lace just captured my heart! I love them dearly. I’ll be wearing them with jeans, dresses, skirts, the lot. And the small kitten heel (I actually can’t believe I bought a kitten heel as I vividly remember slagging them off a few years ago) is the perfect everyday height.
I’ve accessorised the look with classic tortoise shell, cat-eye glasses; a shape I think suits my face quite well. This squishy leather, fold over bag in nude with gold hardware reminds me of all the relaxed leather bag styles of the 80’s too.
Please note the hoop earrings the size of my face, as well. The red Chopper and Mini Cooper don’t belong to me sadly but I happily accessorised with them whilst we shot outside Poppie’s Fish n Chips down in Soho, which sell class A chips I might add. They even came wrapped in a newspaper cone. Can’t get more retro and British than that!
