This is year is the year I say YES to everything without hesitation, reservation and over thinking. Newly single and with a heart open for adventure I headed to Spain last week for a Yoga retreat. I wasn’t sure what I was signing up for (I literally didn’t even glance at the website before booking a plane ticket) but it became more than I could have ever wished or hoped for.
My week spent in Spain was emotional to say the least; like my outer armour was being peeled back from my skin like a long stuck down plaster. I felt exposed, I felt elated, I felt EVERYTHING. More on this in a future vlog.
My favourite part of the day anywhere in the world is Golden Hour, that sweet swoop of time between sunset and nightfall when everything becomes soft and hazy.
Natalie (my yoga buddy) and I took a stroll through the local town of Benhavis at this time of evening. I wore my new summer dress that exposes my shoulders and star studded espadrilles. Curls in my hair and newly sun kissed limbs we wandered up every set of steps and down every alleyway we encountered taking in the towns beauty before sunset. The night was young.

A few days later we went to beach for a sunset meditation session. I left behind the beach bag with the essentials (hair brush/makeup/underwear/mobile phone) and put on a swimsuit, jumper and shorts.
To say I ran to the shore was an understatement. I sprinted. We captured these photos on the rocks as the waves crashed noisily behind us. I felt so good at this moment that I decided not to Photoshop any of the images.
Last week was not only the start of summer but the start of a new journey for me. I lost my identity and I’m setting out to find it again. The night is young. Summer is YOUNG.

I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean
I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand
But you brought me here and I’m happy that you did
‘Cause now I’m as free as birds catching the wind
