A STATEMENT COAT is always 1 number on my shopping when I start browsing the autumn fashions. Worn as the outermost layer of your look, an on trend coat has the ability to make your look current or date it massively. This is why the PUFFA jacket should be your number investment piece this season.
It started last year and shows no signs of stopping. The puffa jacket last coveted by yoots in the 90’s is making a come back in a BIG way. From last year’s army green and black styles this season the shops are full of bigger, brighter and puffier options.
For me, there is also an absolute glee surrounding this new trend as not only does it look hyper cool but it’s WARM & PRACTICAL. Sort of lamenting this next sentence as it massively shows my age but this fashion development will not only keep your look cool but protect you from the elements too.
My favourite option – the bright red Cocoon jacket by Superdry as worn in this blog. I love the slightly cropped length so it doesn’t swallow me up. It is so warm to! The bright red colour is fun and goes with any neutral. It’s like making a statement that is way safer than pink, yellow or anything metallic.
When cruising the press shows for AW17 I noted a plethora of 80’s ath-leisure and ski-wear trends filtering into everyday wear and the easiest was to adopt this trend is by way of the puffa.
What to look for
The most on trend styles I’ve seen are shorter in length and have maximum “puff” that gives off that late-Eighties and early-Nineties hip hops styles. Style it with an everyday jeans and jumper look + beanie and vans for cool-girl casual or chuck your puffa over a more tailored look to give your outfit a little more street cred. TRUST ME I’ve tried a puffa over leather trousers, heeled boots and a slinky camisole and it totally comes together.
So as the days get colder commuting in a sleeping bag sounds like GOALS, so why fight winters warmest coat trend?
