The jumpsuit; winter’s take on summers flirty little sister, the playsuit. A well tailored jumpsuit in a classic colour will see you through many occasion; from work meetings, dinner and date nights, to the dance floor (where most of us will end up a few times before the year is out). ‘Tis party season after all so many of us are investing in something that works for office Christmas parties, endless (“quick, let’s get in a swift one before the year is out”) drinks and of course the Christmas day outfit!
I was thinking, wouldn’t it be fab if one outfit could be rolled out across all of these events? After all they are with 3 sets of totally different people, so you could totally get away with being an “outfit repeater”.
Debenhams challenged me to select any jumpsuit from their rather extensive collection online and take it from desk to dusk to DISCO with a few beauty and accessory updates. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED MY FRIENDS!
I selected this sophisticated Neha Jumpsuit by concession brand Phase Eight, known for quality pieces. The trousers on this are nicely tailored with a nipped in waist and a waistband detail. The material is generous enough for my curves even though I wear an 8 – I still have a bum and muscly legs! What makes it feel festive is the velvet top; a scoop neck and short sleeves give it a causal elegance which makes it perfect for AM to PM wearing.
To do my eye look I opted for the NYX Cool Neutrals Eye Palette to build a subtle, smoky eye look for a bit of definition and then did a cat eye flick with MY FAVOURITE EVER Liquid liner; Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. Honestly if you struggle to do the perfect flick or find that it never stays put on you then you need this in your life! It’s a forever fav and my top recommendation.
I finished the eye look with a few coats of cult mascara Benefit They’re Real mascara.
I think you’ll agree the lip look steals the show. Urban Decay have taken over from MAC as my favourite lipsticks and ever since they released their VICE comfort matte lipsticks I am slowly stocking up on all my fav colours. The DOUBT shade is a showstopper; the perfect bold, red party lip and takes my jumpsuit into evening territory. It’s super comfortable and easy to apply giving a clean, crisp outline so no liner needed.
A spritz of…
Party season calls for a little spritz of an evening fav; YSL Back Opium. The bottle itself is enough to get me in the party mood. Notes include: Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Coffee, Vanilla, Patchouli and Cedarwood.
And finally, Accessories!
The great thing about a black jumpsuit is it gives you complete freedom to accessorize in any way you want. No colour, jewellery sequin or detail is out of place when paired with classic black. It also means that you can change up you look with ease if you opt to wear the jumpsuit again.
I picked out the boots style of the season; Miss Selfridge Red Desire sock boot (which has since sold out but similar here), which complemented my cool red lip and a gorgeous minimally designed Jude box clutch from Coast in a metallic bronze hue. This bag has a chain strap too so you can wear it across the body when pulling all those mad shapes on the dance floor at the office party. LOLOLOL.
I shot the look without a coat so you can see the look all together but classic UK weather the wind decided to descend mid photo shoot, so my blow dry is dancing around my face. Classic UK.
